Please make sure to select the “Union County Health Department PEDIATRIC” location from the location dropdown. For those without reliable internet, appointments can be booked by calling 937-642-2053. Vaccination clinics for 5-11-year-olds will begin on Nov. 08 and will continue throughout November and December. Several clinic offerings each week will be available. Vaccination will be by appointment and a parent or legal guardian must accompany the child.
Late last night (Nov. 02), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine pediatric formulation for children ages 5-11 following a thorough review of the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness. This follows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granting of an emergency use authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11.
The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11 is administered as a two-dose primary series, three weeks apart, but is a lower dose than that used for individuals 12 years of age and older.
