Eighth Lab Confirmed Case of COVID-19 Reported

There are now 8 lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Union County. Cases range from 31 to 83 years of age. The median age is 46.5 years and the average age is 51.4 years. The cases are 50% male and 50% female. It is important to remember that lab confirmed cases likely only show us a snapshot of what is happening. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment. Around 1 out of every 6 people who gets COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness. People with fever, cough and difficulty breathing should seek medical attention.
